
The number of Finnish citizens resident in China (including Hong Kong) is around 2000. The size of Finnish community has increased due to strenghtening Sino-Finnish economical cooperation. Many of the Finnish expatriates in China work for Finnish companies. A growing number of Finnish students and media has also become interested in China.
Finnish authorities and a group of communities of Finnish origin represent Finland and Finnish citizens in China. Finnish embassy and consulate generals cooperate with Finpro, Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes), Finnish Tourist Board (MEK) and Finnish Business Councils (FBC) among other Finnish associations. Cultural interaction has also become livelier along with increase of cooperation in other sectors.
FinChi is a non profit organization located in Shanghai and dedicated to supporting Finnish high-tech companies in entering and expanding in China.
